Claim Procedure

Submit your claim through EASY Claims

Step 1: Prepare the information or documents

 

Basic information

  • Policy number
    • An 8-digit numbers combination that you may find in your policy
  • Open policy
    • An 7-digit alphanumeric combination that you may find in your policy
  • Notice of claim against carrier
  • Statement of adjustment/Claim bill

Supplementary information

You may need to prepare the following information/documents according to your claim.

Shipping document

  • Bill of lading/airway bill/delivery order
  • Full set of invoice & packing list
  • Exception remarks upon receipt
  • Delivery receipt

Any relevant information or correspondence from the third party

  • Arrival notice/devanning report
  • Incident report
  • Container interchange receipt/equipment interchange receipt
  • Photo(s) showing the packing damage or damage to the insured matter
    • E.g.: devanning photos etc.
  • Shortland certificate

Other

  • Other relevant document(s)
    • E.g.: QC report, survey report, repair quotation, etc.

 

Step 2: Complete the online claim form

 

  • Your contact details
  • Claimant details
  • Select the claim type and fill in the relevant information
  • Your bank account details
  • Upload supporting documents

 

Step 3: Submit

 

Upon completion, you will be assigned a tracking number. We will contact you shortly afterwards. You will also receive an email notification from us.

 

Step 4: Direct bank-in to your bank account

 

We will direct bank-in to your bank account once the submitted claim form has been approved.

Step 3: Submit your completed claim form and all relevant documents within 30 days of the accident to MSIG’s office address by post

For export cargo

Contact our nominated survey/settling agent to conduct a cargo inspection/investigation. Our settling agent will notify and assist us in processing the claim case accordingly.

For import cargo

Once the cargo is discovered damage upon its arrival at Hong Kong, please notify us about the cargo damage immediately and we shall then appoint a competent surveyor to conduct a cargo inspection.

Notes on claim procedure
  1. Identify the cargo loss.
  2. File notices to us immediately and file a written notice of claim against the forwarders or the carriers.
  3. Gather claim documents along with supporting documents.
Important notes
  1. If the loss is covered by the policy, the survey fee will be paid by us. Otherwise, the cargo owner will have to pay the survey fee.
  2. Incomplete claim forms cannot be accepted for processing of claims.
  3. We may contact you for further information.
  4. It is important that a complete answer be given to every question. If insufficient space is provided for your answers, please continue on a separate sheet.

Basic information

  • Policy number
    • An 10/11-digit alphanumeric combination that you may find in your policy
  • Repair/replacement quotation/receipt for loss/damage item(s)

Supplementary information

  • Photographs showing the extent of the loss or damage
  • A full list of the destroyed or damaged items
  • Original purchase invoices of the destroyed or damaged items, if available
  • 2 repair or replacement quotations for the destroyed or damaged items for comparison and assessment
  • Police report and statement, if any
  • All accounting records, including all stock records, record of the last renovation, rental records, etc.

 

Step 2: Complete the online claim form

  • Select the claim type and fill in the relevant information
  • Your bank account details
  • Upload supporting documents

 

Step 3: Submit

Important notes
  1. If you have other documents which are not listed but may support your claim application, please also submit them as it may facilitate our processing.
  2. If there is another insurance policy covering the same loss or damage, you should provide a copy of the full set of the policy to us. 
  3. Please do not discard, remove or commence any repair works of the destroyed or damaged items without our prior approval.
  4. We may appoint an adjuster to investigate the case.
