2017 / 18 MSIG Sai Kung 50 Race Series Round Up
The final race of the 2017/18 MSIG HK50 Series took place on 10 Feb 2018. The MSIG Sai Kung 50 event attracted more than 1,100 athletes and brought together a field of top-ranked international runners, and up and coming mountain-running talents from all over the globe.
John Ellis, an Australian trail runner, was crowned overall champion of the MSIG Sai Kung 50 race, and Britain’s Nia Cooper grabbed the women's title. Ada Tsang Yin-hung, the first Hong Kong woman to reach the summit of Everest, claimed 2nd place in the female competition.
This race was also the last qualifying race of the 2018 MSIG Action Asia Development Programme. After 4 races in the HK50 2017/18 series, our top local trail runners, Ng Wai Hei and Cheung Man Yee won a five-month professional coaching programme; free entry to the 2018 Lijiang Yunnan Action Asia 3-day Ultra Marathon; and will now represent Hong Kong in the 2018 Skyrunning World Championships in Scotland!
MSIG, as the Presenting Sponsor of the MSIG HK50 series, is proud to hold these international races and thanks all MSIG staff and business partners for joining the race!
